Ok, I admit, I picked this book up under false pretenses. I thought this book would be about a society that didn't exist, either yet, or ever, where cannibals had taken over against a small resistence. Nope, not even close.

Pioneer Woman's Cinnamon Rolls.
These are, hands down, the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had or made. This post exists simply to point you to the recipe, if you've never heard of these. PLEASE make these. You won't regret it. Enjoy!

The Forgotten Beasts of Eld.
This has been a favorite book of mine since I was a young teen. The story is about a sixteen year old girl named Sybel, a wizardess, with no family, who is suddenly given a child to raise. She and the child grow up together, until Sybel is a woman and her 'son', Tam, a young man. Then, those who brought her the child unexpectedly return and shatter their peace. Living amongst them are various fantastic creatures, cared for and loved by Sybel and Tam. Their beauty, wisdom, and value complicate and enrich the story further.

I began my garden for this year in the first week of april, mainly due to the fact that we had gorgeous weather, and that was expected to continue. I've decided to branch out a bit on what varieties of herbs I grow this year. I've chosen Purple Sage, Pineapple Sage, Lemon Thyme, Purple Oregano, Chocolate Mint, Rosemary (holdover from last year...), Curly Leaf Parsley, and Hidcote Lavender. I'm still working on getting basil, of which I hope to get African Blue Basil, which is sterile and won't die when it blooms like all other basil, but as none of the greenhouses in town are planning to get any, my hopes aren't high. I'd also like to get a bay tree, but they were not ordered in as of when we got the other plants. The rest of the garden will be filled with pretty, blooming flowers that we can enjoy simply for their beauty.
As we live in an apartment, all of these things are in pots, which are now sitting in our living room, since it suddenly dropped to 28°F today and began to snow. As it looks to be clearing up, though, and nothing has actually stuck, I hope to move everything back outside tomorrow.
Crock Pot Pulled Chicken & Honey Whole Wheat Buns.
I LOVE this chicken recipe. It is so delicious, so simple, so quick (for a crock pot recipe), and did I mention, SO DELICIOUS!! I didn't modify the recipe at all, (well, other than halve it, as I don't need to feed 8-10 people...) so I'm going to send you to the original site for the recipe. Stay tuned for the buns recipe though!!

I love reading. Those who know me have probably seen me buried in a book at some point or other. When I was younger, and asked to clean my room, I'd do reasonably well until I got to my books. Then, in the process of straightening and dusting, I'd find an old favorite and lose myself again in its pages, completely forgetting that my parents would be coming to check on my progress sooner or later. (Sorry Mom & Dad!) Into adulthood, I've always had trouble parting with books, including textbooks, (unless they were completely awful, like my math book...) and I've found that the library has become a great friend to my overflowing shelves. Now, as I explore my local library's massive store of entertainment and knowledge, I'd like to share it with you.

I love making this soup. It's delicious, simple, and extremely comforting on a cold day, or when you're feeling a bit under the weather. My method takes a bit of time, but it's not extremely labor intensive, and you can take shortcuts at any point to make it even easier. Due to the nature of this recipe, there are no exact proportions. You can make a large batch, as I usually do, or simply use less and make enough for a single meal. The amounts I do list will be for a rather large batch intended to have extra for freezing. Adjust as needed, and enjoy!
